Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     LOCATION: Remote or Hybrid remote at Grand Rapids, MI campus

    The Executive Director of Academic Innovation at Cornerstone University is responsible for aiding in the creation, review, and revision of curriculum for various schools within the University. This position and other Instructional Designers will consult with subject matter experts and applying design and learning theory, craft course designs appropriate for an online platform, instructor manuals, student guides, and other materials required for online courses. This senior role will collaborate with and assist the Assistant Vice President, Online Learning in hiring, leading, and mentoring the team of instructional designers at the university. Project management is an essential skill. Cornerstone University employs a subject-matter centric focus for its modular online curricula and designers are expected to be aligned with that focus.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Project management experience, with Project Management Professional (PMP) certification a plus
    • Mentor and coach more junior instructional designers
    • Develops and designs courses and curriculum according to CU design practices
    • Edits and develops online learning materials
    • Creates learning experiences and environments for the CU LMS platform
    • Works with subject matter experts to design learning activities, assignments, and assessments
    • Aids subject matter experts in developing learning aids, rubrics, and other teaching tools
    • Collaborates with subject matter experts to develop course content including teaching videos
    • Analyzes, updates, and refines existing online content
    • Trains instructors, students, and employees in how to use learning technologies as needed
    • Communicates effectively and frequently with a variety of constituencies
    • Creates computer-based training (CBT) modules and storyboards
    • Other duties as assigned.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

    • Education, Training and Experience:
      • Bachelor’s degree required with a minimum of 2 years of instructional design experience
      • Verbal and Written Communication Proficiency
      • Operational knowledge of digital curriculum platforms (ie: Moodle)
      • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
      • Proficiency in Adobe Premier, InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
      • Data collection and organization
    • Skills and Characteristics:
      • Strong organizational skills, well disciplined, able to work under pressure of many priorities and meet deadlines
      • Supervisory experience is a plus

    • Salary: $45,000 - $65,000/year. The actual salary will be commensurate with professional credentials, education and experience. A full benefit package including health plans, disability coverage, and retirement is included.
