Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Works closely with academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an Academic Advising Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     CBC seeks a Program Coordinator to support the institution’s mission by coordinating work duties and to independently plan, organize and prioritize work in support of the Counseling and Advising Center (the “Center”). The Program Coordinator will provide in-depth customer service to students, staff and the public. This position collaborates with Center staff and other departments to establish and execute efficient processes.  This position reports to the Director for Advising, Retention & Completion

    • Provide direct coordination and support to the Director for Advising, Retention & Completion; support programs within the Center including managing department budget, requisitions, invoices, payroll and procurement of supplies and arrange for equipment maintenance and repair services; 
    • Provide primary intake services and high-level customer service to students, staff and public for the Counseling and Advising Center; resolve problems, respond to inquiries regarding procedures and services; respond to Center emails, answer phone calls and schedule appointments for staff; 
    • Facilitate HDEV and FYI course sections serving as the primary support to the Dean and Director; 
    • Assist with international student admission process;
    • Maintain accurate coding and advising referrals in support of a new case load advising model; monitor and track students for compliance with the Academic Performance requirements; attend meetings and conferences as a Counseling and Advising representative; establish front office procedures, standards, priorities and deadlines in consultation with the Director; collaborate in creating and updating processes and documents; establish or revise electronic or manual files;
    • Maintain Counseling and Advising Center, and Student Orientation to Advising and Registration (SOAR) web pages;
    • Assist with supervision of hourly employees and student workers assigned to the Counseling and Advising Center; and
    •  Perform other related duties as assigned.
    • High school diploma or equivalent; and
    • Three (3) years of clerical or secretarial experience.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Associate's degree or equivalent education from a regionally accredited college or university; and
    • Bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish.

    Technology Proficiency: Proficient in utilizing various technologies, including office productivity software, learning management systems, and other educational technologies relevant to the position.



    This position is a full-time classified staff position. This position is overtime eligible and the typical work hours are Monday through Thursday from 7:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.; however, must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College. This position is available immediately.

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including having the ability to move materials on a regular basis such as files, books, office equipment, etc. Manual dexterity and coordination are required to operate equipment such as computer keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment.

    Usual office working conditions. The noise level in the work area is typical of most office environments with telephones, personal interruptions, and background noises.
