Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director of Academic Advising at the New York Film Academy (NYF) will provideguidance in the understanding and sequencing of academic requirements, navigatingacademic policies and procedures, developing long and short-term goals, preparing forcourse selection and registration, and monitoring academic performance and degreeprogression. Reporting to the Dean of General Education, this position will serve as theprimary liaison to Admissions, the Office of Academic Affairs, the Dean of Students, and theRegistrar Office. The Director of Academic Advising will collaborate with other campussupport offices, faculty members, and department chairs to ensure the overall academicsuccess of students.

This position is remote but may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite and/or at a designated campus work location (Burbank, CA ; New York, NY ; South Beach, FL)
REPRESENTATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Serve as the direct advisor to students on the Los Angeles, New York and South Beach campuses
Assist all students seeking an individual academic advising appointment
Provide guidance on curriculum planning and course sequencing; experiential learning opportunities; prepare for course selection and registration; any other topic related to long-term academic planning
Share consistently accurate advice that supports the pursuit of various academic goals within an anticipated graduation timeline
Monitor academic standing, address questions/concerns impacting degree progression, and outreach when appropriate
Refer students to appropriate support offices: Writing Center; Student Accessibility Services; Student Care and Support; Student Life; Counseling Services; Office of the Registrar; Dean of Students; and Financial Aid
Collaborate with chairs/faculty to address obstacles that may compromise academic success
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES:

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION:
Masters degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling psychology, or related field
Two or more years of experience in advising or counseling students in a higher education setting or relevant environment
Experience working with a diverse student body in a multicultural setting
