Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Works closely with academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an Academic Advising Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.       ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
      • Observe and model best practices in instruction.
      • Plan with teachers to prepare lessons.
      • Assist in the planning and implementation of professional development.
      • Assist in the curriculum development and assessment development for content area.
      • Collaborate with principal and instructional support teacher to develop, implement and monitor school goals/improvement plans.
      • Provide professional development for Induction and new teacher sessions.
      • Maintain and develop working knowledge of current best practices for instruction.
      • Assist Principal with the distribution and inventory of district curriculum resources.
      • Assist Principal with State/National test administration according to guidelines.
      • Adhere to the Pennsylvania Professional Code of Conduct.

      QUALIFICATIONS:

      To successfully perform this position, a person must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualification requirements listed below represent minimum levels of educational achievement, training, skill and/or ability necessary.
      • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience.
      • Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate.
      • Strong teaching skills.
      • Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to interface effectively with other administrators, teachers, parents, students, governing board members, support staff, colleagues, and outside professional contacts.
      • Computer literate and competent with word processing, spreadsheet and database applications.
      • Understanding of classroom technology and student learning.
      • Submission of PA School Personnel Health form.
      • Current Act 34, Act 151 and Act 114 Clearances

      TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
