Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Works closely with academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an Academic Advising Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required. This position is PART-TIME. We hire based on the demands of our clients/students. It is important for us to get to know your preferences and qualifications so we can match you to a great student! The number of hours depends on the needs of the students, but you definitely have the chance to work more hours depending on your performance!
Job Duties:
Assist students in targeted subject areas via individual or group tutoring
Host workshops on selected topics
Model and encourage collaborative study strategies
Create and manage resources
Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
Commute to students place of residence or meet at a public location to conduct tutoring sessions
Meet regularly with supervisor
Good to have:
Effective interpersonal communication skills
Ability to relate to students with various academic levels and needs
Previous tutoring & teaching experience is preferred
College degree is preferred
