Assists students in setting academic goals, course planning and career development. Being an Academic Advisor may work with individual students or groups. Requires a bachelor's degree in counseling or related field or its equivalent. Additionally, Academic Advisor typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Academic Advisor gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Academic Advisor (Remote/Hybrid potential)

  • The Academic Advisor provides advising to students as assigned. This includes collaborating with faculty and program directors, monitoring academic progress, and providing recommendations on course scheduling to ensure students are able to progress smoothly though their academic program. This position works closely with the departmental
    colleagues as well as faculty and Deans of assigned divisions.

    Essential Duties Summary
    • Coordinate and deliver academic advising services for students in assigned divisions. Collaborate with faculty advisors and departmental colleagues to provide seamless advising for students throughout their time at NEC;
    • Advise students in assigned divisions on course and major selection, college policies, transition and transfer processes, and enhancing academic experiences and skills. Provide accurate information regarding courses of instruction, resources and college policies and procedures to internal and external constituencies;
    • Prepare preliminary degree evaluation and plans for completing remaining courses for assigned students;
    • Support advising functions as it pertains to International Students
    • Other duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications
    Bachelor’s Degree required
    3-5 years’ experience in academic advising

    Preferred Qualifications
    Master’s Degree preferred
    Experience with database systems preferred
