Assists students in setting academic goals, course planning and career development. Being an Academic Advisor may work with individual students or groups. Requires a bachelor's degree in counseling or related field or its equivalent. Additionally, Academic Advisor typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Academic Advisor gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree or equivalent in administration
State teaching license
Minimum of three (3) years of teaching experience
Effective communication skills
Effective problem solving skills
Ability to work during non-scheduled teaching hours
REPORTS TO: Principal
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
To provide assistance to the principal during the normal operation of the school.
To provide administrative leadership in the absence of the principal.
To provide leadership and support to the principal in the following organizational areas.
Summer school registration
Pre-school activities
School handbooks
Coordination of PTA activities
Curriculum organization
In-service sessions for faculty
Other administrative tasks as assigned by the principal
