Assists students in setting academic goals, course planning and career development. Being an Academic Advisor may work with individual students or groups. Requires a bachelor's degree in counseling or related field or its equivalent. Additionally, Academic Advisor typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Academic Advisor gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Snow College seeks a highly collaborative academic advising professional on the Richfield campus to serve as an academic advisor to students as they pursue degrees, certificates, and pathways to transfer. The selected candidate will work as a member of a team of highly motivated student success and services professionals. This position reports to the Director of Student Success and Services on the Richfield Campus. Snow College Academic Advising has a strong commitment to professional development and generally sends both full and part-time employees to at least one professional conference each year. This is a 12-month position. Generally, the hours are Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
    Bachelor’s degree required1 year of advising experience preferred; 1 year Experience in Higher education or a student development setting requiredExcellent verbal and written communication skills; Data analytics and assessment skills preferredAbility to establish strong professional relationships with on-campus as well as off-campus stakeholdersTechnologically proficient with email and MS office suite; student-information-system experience (i.e. Banner or similar) is strongly preferredStrong organization skills; the ability to prioritize multiple tasks Strong attention to detail and problem solvingStrong commitment to professional developmentStrong commitment and motivation to contribute to the success of Snow College studentsA working knowledge of student development theory, best practices, and FERPA are highly desirableSome paid travel is required for this position (conferences, meetings, training, and recruitment activities) outside of normal work hours. This may include occasional overnight stays depending on the location of the activity attended. Occasional evening and weekend work is required of this position in support of special events.
