    LOCATION: Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts (MESA)

    PAY RANGE: $57,000 - $118,395 Annual Salary

    CALENDAR: 190 Days

    REPORTS TO: School Director

    SCHOOL DESIGN OVERVIEW:
    Mapleton Expeditionary School of the Arts is an 9th-12th grade Expeditionary Learning (EL) school, recognized for its emphasis on the visual arts. From animation to advertising, photography to pottery, the visual arts are woven into the delivery of all content standards. MESA students demonstrate achievement every day in the following areas: mastery of knowledge and skill, character, and high-quality work.
    Community partnerships help students experience and explore the value of and opportunities within a mastery and passion for the visual arts.     QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Colorado teaching license with an appropriate English or Social Studies endorsement required. Endorsement in both English Language Arts and Social Studies preferred.
    • Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, *or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework. *
    • 3-5 years’ experience working with high school students preferred.
    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
    • Develop schoolwide systems for identifying and addressing student achievement/academic performance issues.
    • Identify specific students demonstrating early warning signs of disengagement, lack of success in coursework, and/or not being on track for graduation.
    • Collect relevant student success data and monitor student progress.
    • Work closely with families of at-risk students to increase communication and engage parents/guardians in ways to support students who are disengaged or struggling academically.
    INSTRUCTION AND INTERVENTION
    • Support students in a freshman seminar course to develop a strong academic mindset, close skill gaps, and maintain routines/habits to improve student learning outcomes.
    • Assist students in goal setting and developing organizational and study skills.
    • Employ a range of effective instructional practices to give students the support they need to complete coursework and meet standards in core content areas.
    • Implement proactive and high leverage intervention strategies with students.
    • Use ongoing assessment of student progress to regularly communicate with students, staff, and families regarding progress and goals.
