    The Academic Coaching and Tutoring Coordinator will perform the following functions:

    • Provides visionary leadership in the areas of planning and goal setting for the Academic Coaching & Tutoring Center, including the College’s overall supplemental instruction (SI) program. Conducts assessment of all programs and services to ensure goal attainment and continuous improvement, personnel planning and review, professional development, and budget development and management. Works with unit personnel to determine and implement appropriate staffing, scheduling and operational processes, technical support, contract maintenance, and record-keeping.
    • Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate tutors, academic coaches, supplemental instruction program assistant and SI leaders to ensure delivery of high-quality academic support services. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment that promotes professional growth among staff. Manage multiple tutoring locations (on campus, embedded, and online), programs, and staff.
    • Leads the ACT and SI staff in collaborating with faculty to improve student learning outcomes. Coordinates with academic departments, student services and other departments across campus to develop proactive strategies that ensure students are receiving appropriate instructional support interventions. Creates strategic marketing and communication to encourage students to utilize tutoring, coaching, and supplemental instruction services.
    • Participate in the System Office Peer Tutoring Group as needed. Serves on committees as appropriate and performs other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the College and its students.

    • Bachelor’s degree and three years of learning assistance experience in a higher education setting. 
    • At least two years of supervisory experience. 
    • Understanding of Supplemental Instruction (SI) methods and/or mathematics teaching or tutoring experience preferred. 
    • Knowledge of instructional methodologies, learning theory, student support, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and alternative delivery methods.
    • Knowledge of administrative management principles and practices. 
    • Communication skills to interact verbally and in written form with students, peers, administration, and the general public. 
    • Strong supervisory skills. 
    • Ability to work independently and in groups. 
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and colleagues in other professional organizations. 
    • Ability to think critically and to carry out functions of the areas of responsibility. 
    • Ability to multitask while paying attention to detail.
