    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification
    * Master's degree
    * Valid Texas Mid-Management or appropriate certificate
    * Valid Texas teaching certificate
    * Advancing Educational Leadership certificate
    * Appraisal Training
    Special Knowledge/Skills:
    * Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction
    * Primary duties consist of overseeing the instructional services provided
    * Ability to evaluate instructional programs and teaching effectiveness
    * Available to work frequent prolonged and irregular hours
    * Ability to manage budget and personnel
    * Ability to coordinate campus functions
    * Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
    * Ability to lead several school activities at once

    REQUIRED
    EXPERIENCE:

    • Minimum 3 years teaching experience

    JOB DESCRIPTION: The Academic Coordinator shall report to the Principal and assists the Principal in the organization,
    administration, and supervision of all personnel, instruction, curriculum, parent relations and public
    information.

    DUTIES AND
    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Monitor and assist teachers in the planning and implementation of curriculum goals and
    objectives to provide effective learning experience for all students.

    • Coordinates and plan with teacher leaders and program leaders in the monitoring and
    implementation of curriculum and procedures that improve student achievement.

    • Observe teachers in their classrooms, evaluates performance, and provides feedback.
    • Assist in planning, coordinating and implementing staff development programs for teachers to

    raise the level of instructional performance.
    • Plans, coordination with district staff, and implements professional development based on

    campus needs.
    • Coordinates the students assessment program and in disseminating and interpreting test data

    relating to the overall instructional program.
    • Maintain the data system and attending regular meetings/trainings.
    • Works closely with curriculum and instruction staff to improve instructional delivery and assist in

    coordinating remedial and special programs (i.e., at-risk, comp. ed., bilingual, special ed.,
    vocational) with the regular program.

    • Assist with the planning, coordination, and monitoring of student scheduling.
    • Assist with intervention programs and academic programs (ie 504,GT, AP, Dual Credit);

    coordinate after-school or weekend events related to these programs.
    • Assists with coordinating the development of the master teaching schedule.
    • Monitors and intervenes with struggling or probationary teachers.

    Academic Coordinator - MS

    • Actively seeks to improve course offerings, instructional delivery, and proven strategies to
    increase students' achievement.

    • Supervises extra-curricular activities related to curriculum and instruction.
    • Assist in maintaining discipline throughout the student body, and deals with special cases as

    necessary.
    • Keeps informed of and complies with state law and policies of the local district, state, and school

    concerning curriculum, student management, and personnel.
    • Articulate the school's mission to community and solicit its support in realizing its mission.
    • Daily attendance and punctuality are essential functions of the job.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    * Assume supervisory responsibilities as the principal may assign.

    Mental & Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
    Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, effective management and public relation
    skills, and ability to maintain emotional control under stress. Prolong periods of sitting, walking, standing,
    bending, stooping and occasional district-wide travel. Job requires long periods of arm, hand, finger
    movement and ability to lift 40 lbs.
    Note: This position is partially funded by categorical funding therefore the job is dependent on the receipt
    of annual funding and required to meet specific federal or state compliance regulations. If funding is
    reduce or the position is not deemed a reasonable need for the campus the position may be eliminated at
    any time.
