WPSD Local 6, the NBC affiliate in Paducah, Kentucky, is growing! We are hiring multi-platform journalists to help expand our coverage of the important southern Illinois counties in our DMA. Successful applicants will join other members of our award-winning news team providing coverage from our southern Illinois bureau.

Our DMA, Nielsen market 92, is geographically unique, covering more than forty counties in portions of four states: Kentucky, Illinois, Tennessee and Missouri.

This is a unique entry-level or early-career opportunity for journalists who understand the media landscape is ever evolving. You’ll have the opportunity to enhance and develop valuable journalism skills reporting for our newscasts, websites, social media, regional newspapers and magazines.

As a storyteller, you know how to balance hard news reporting with the emotional stories of the people that make up our communities. You are a writer that enterprises your own stories. You look beyond the event in front of you and find the effects this event will have on the communities you write about. Your work will be creative, compelling and relatable content that appears on NBC affiliate WPSD Local 6 and across our network of newspapers in western Kentucky and southern Illinois.

PHOTOJOURNALIST

WPSD Local 6 has an opening for a full-time news photojournalist. The ideal applicant will have an outstanding track record of creative hard news, feature, daily turns, long form, and live work. You’ve got a great eye and everything you create makes an emotional connection.

You are an idea person, self-starter and ready to work in a high energy, competitive environment, producing content for multiple platforms.

WEB PRODUCER (Full-time)

WPSD LOCAL6, the dominant NBC affiliate in the 92nd market has an opening in our newsroom for a web producer. Digital producers manage content on our website, social media, digital newsletters, and other platforms.

We use Social News Desk, MGN Online Graphics, ENPS, the TownNews CMS, AP wire & AP Video, NBC & CNN feeds, CNN Newswire and state of the art WSI weather technology.

Web Producers manage our website, mobile APPs, and social media platforms. They work closely with newscast producers, reporters, and anchors. They also offer assistance and advice to other departments like Promotions, Creative Services and Sales.

College degree and some experience preferred.
