Advises internal teams on product and service improvements/suggestions based on client feedback. Provides sales quotes and responds to requests for proposals. Typically requires a bachelor's degree.     CLASSIFICATION TITLE: ACCOUNT REPRESENTATIVE


    PURPOSE OF CLASSIFICATION

    The purpose of this classification is to establish and maintain customer records for the city’s water and sewer, electric and gas utilities, and sanitation service, to process related payments, and to respond to inquiries and complaints from customers, as well as to perform various clerical duties involving receptionist, customer service, account billing and collections, purchasing, and/or data-entry work.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

    • Establishes new utility services; assists new customers to initiate service; schedules turn-on.
    • Establishes and updates customer account files; requests initial and final bills; completes read-in and read-out forms and customer account cards; establishes phone and automatic read-in service.
    • Posts information in utility accounts and data-base files on meter cut-ons, cut-offs, reconnections, and service adjustments for customer accounts.
    • Calculates advance payments and penalties; provides duplicate bills; generates bills for returned checks; and posts adjustments to bills.
    • Responds to inquiries and complaints from customers and the general public regarding location of utility meters, status of payments, fee schedules, billing procedures, and service information from other utility companies.
    • Writes check tickets for complaints on utility readings and possible utility leaks; writes letters of credit for customers; responds verbally or in writing to utility inquiries.
    • Contacts various utility departments for initiation and reconnection of service, meter readings, and removal of meters from designated properties.
    • Posts meter readings on utility tickets; prints read-in and read-out tickets; posts utility charges to billing control sheets; and prints and/or copies utility bills, read-in and read-out notices, service vouchers, and other forms.
    • Receives and processes payments for utility accounts, ad valorem property taxes, city licenses and permits, parking tickets, and others.
    • Enters computer data and runs reports related to fuel usage, city work orders, customer information and account data.
    • Sorts checks; puts in numerical order.
    • Maintains and labels utility account registers.
    • Completes sanitation cards for service interruption and changes.
    • Performs computer inquiries to verify customer names and addresses and to obtain account information needed by various departments.
    • Operates computer terminal, printer, typewriter, facsimile, copier, calculator, and telephone in performing customer service duties.
    • Maintains files for customer accounts, work orders, utility cards, vouchers, and other documents.
    • Makes payment arrangements and applies vouchers from agencies to utility accounts.
    • Maintains regular and predictable in person attendance during regular business hours of the City of Henderson is required.
    • Must undergo and successfully complete drug test and alcohol screening prior to employment and undergo and successfully complete future drug test and/or alcohol screening pursuant to the City’s Drug and Alcohol policy.
