    POSITION

    The CS Plus full-time (35hrs/wk) Small Account Sales Representative will report to the Manager, Broker Services, and be responsible for insurance program implementation and evaluation as well as manage an assigned book of business from existing accounts. Working closely with the CS Plus staff, New York Council of Nonprofits (NYCON) staff and insurance carrier representatives the position will be responsible for, but not limited to, basic commercial insurance marketing to nonprofits groups, database management and sales presentation. In addition, the position will require skills in working with the nonprofit community and dealing with top decision-makers in this field. This is a nonexempt position. The CS Plus personnel policies apply to this position in full. This is an employment at will position, terminable for any lawful reason “at the will of” the employer or the employee.

    This role consists of a 24 month training and development program that will prepare the participant to become a licensed nonprofit insurance professional. The focus of the training program will be driving new business primarily through agency referred accounts by reviewing, quoting, processing, selling and servicing small account business at the agency.

    DUTIES

    • Establish themselves as a small account expert through product knowledge, quoting and superior customer service.
    • Qualify risks in order to quote new business. Submit risks that fit agency and carrier appetite primarily through phone/web systems and by submitting to carrier when necessary. A benchmark of at least 2 submissions a day and/or 10 submissions a week into carriers.
    • Assist in the success of the corporate strategic marketing plan by identifying sales opportunities and utilizing sales reports and strategies developed by CS Plus and NYCON.
    • Active selling through the following activities:
    • Create a lead list and make outbound sales communications.
    • Communicate the coverages and benefits in an effort to educate prospects on suitable coverage and value added services.
    • Recognize and understand cross selling opportunities and be able to refer to other teammates if necessary.
    • Respond to policyholder emails and phone calls in compliance with agency service standards.
    • Contribute to marketing efforts including monthly email blasts and quarterly webinars.
    • Perform support functions such as bind orders, payments, endorsements, remarketing and claims handling as necessary according to agency structure.
    • Work to ensure clients are aware of their renewal and rate options
    • Work with service staff and clients to evaluate existing plans, explain insurance concepts and recommend appropriate plan changes and additions to their insurance
    • Attend meetings and events as requested by the Manager, Broker Services.
    • Maintain CS Plus client database and contact management database to reflect new client products, service issues and sales efforts.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    Travel:

    This is not a work from home position. Candidates are expected to work in the agency. The job does not require overnight travel with the exception of annual training conferences in Pennsylvania. Participants may travel locally to meet with prospects and clients and to attend networking events. They will be encouraged to participate in associations and conferences within their specific product niche.

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Associates Degree in a related field OR equivalent business experience preferred but not required
    • P&C licensed producer or commitment to obtain P&C License within 60 days
    • Candidates will be expected to pursue continuing education and insurance designations/licenses as outlined in the training and development plan. This will require self-study.
    • Strong communication and organizational skills, networking and relationship ability and ability to work independently in a fast paced environment
    • Remain flexible under the pressure of a heavy workload and critical deadlines
    • Open to coaching and continuous improvement
    • Possess excellent organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.
    • Possess good oral and written communication skills.
    • Knowledge of and ability to execute meeting preparation and presentation.
