Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Being an Accountant compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Additionally, Accountant typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Accountant work is closely managed. Position Function:
The Accountant will be responsible for creating and monitoring budgets and financial activity for government grants and contracts as well as various other accounting functions. These may include reconciling accounts, researching variances, preparing audit schedules and reports, reviewing financial reports, preparing government compliance reports and other general accounting duties. This position utilizes advanced accounting knowledge to assist in the administration of the overall fiscal control of the organization. The job requires sensitivity to the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience: At least three years of general accounting experience including government grants and contracts budgets and monitoring, A/P & A/R, General Ledger, Payroll, MS Word, & MS Excel. MS Excel proficiency at an intermediate level preferred. Experience with Abila (formerly Sage) MIP software and UltiPro (Ultimate) payroll software a plus. Nonprofit experience a plus. A least one-year supervising experience preferred.
