Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Being an Accountant compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Additionally, Accountant typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Accountant work is closely managed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Performs monthly bank reconciliations, reviews and prepares journal entries and maintains recurring journal entries.
- Posts daily activity from operational systems to the general ledger.
- Records and reconciles payroll transactions.
- Supports Accounts Payable and others as a back up to their daily functions.
- Serves as liaison for the day-to-day banking activities.
- Assists VP of Finance with month end and year-end closings, including preparing audit work papers.
- Performs and assists in a variety of accounting, financial analysis, and budget projects.
- Works with department personnel to understand accounting processes and procedures.
- Addresses challenges with possible solutions in a timely manner.
- Performs all internal and external interactions with a high level of customer service.

QUALIFICATIONS- 2 year degree in accounting with 5 years related experience OR 4 year degree in accounting with 1-2 years of experience.
- Knowledge of general ledger and accounting functions, including GAAP and internal controls.
- Comfortable with computerized accounting systems.
- Prior experience with non-profit accounting a plus.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook required.
- Excellent problem-solving skills.
- Must be highly organized and have the ability to work with confidential matters.
