Description

Position Summary: The Accountant is responsible for assisting the CFO with all fiscal and HR activities assuring compliance with laws, regulations and rules governing the fiduciary responsibilities of the corporation.

Essential Job Functions

• Summarize, analyze and maintain accounting records and generate monthly and year-to-date financial reports to present to CFO, Finance Committee and Board of Directors
• Prepare journal entries; maintain journals and account ledgers using standard accounting practices
• Assist with and prepare documentation for federal, funder, internal and accreditation audits
• Maintain fixed assets; prepare related monthly and year-end reports
• Designated HR backup for payroll processing
• Review audit submission to the Federal Clearing House
• Maintain controls and perform balancing operations, including reconciliation of bank statements
• Assist the CFO during the Finance Committee meeting - provide materials to the finance committee
• Prepare financials for submission to funders
• Prepare invoices to non DCF funders
• Oversee fiscal activities to assure contractual requirements are met
• Enter annual budget and budget amendment into accounting system
• Assist with HR functions; review and file HR documentation; review employee payroll changes
• Enroll employees for 401K and process 401K contributions

• Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures
• Extensive knowledge of applicable rules and regulations related to fiscal activities
• Knowledge of client data system

General

• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite as applicable to the position
• Ability to travel as required by the position
