Accounting Clerk performs routine accounting activities such as data entry, maintenance of the general ledger, preparation of various accounting statements and financial reports. Reviews, codes, and verifies transactions including billings, invoices, checks, and journal entries. Being an Accounting Clerk assists in completing moderately complex calculations using spreadsheets and other software tools. Reconciles accounts and bank statements. Additionally, Accounting Clerk has a basic understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounting Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. - Rectify discrepancies by checking all possible sources of disagreement, reconstructing probable actions, and recognizing the effect on other accounts; prepare correction documents as required
- Compose statements and reports that require utilization of a wide collection of sources
- Support Accounts Payable: vendor invoices and disbursement filing, A/P invoice matching & filing
- General accounting: help with G/L account reconciliation and month-end closing, other ad hoc projects
- Arrange documents that require knowledge in determining proper classification of expenditure codes and accounting codes
- Upload financial information to journals and ledgers
