Accounting Director directs the operations and policies of an accounting function. Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental, financial, and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards. The Controller for David C Cook/Integrity Music embodies the mission and values while guiding our financial strategy. This position is entrusted with collaborating closely with the Senior Vice President, Finance & Accounting to steward the financial resources of the organization in alignment with the ministry’s values and objectives and responsible for leading the general accounting, audit and compliance functions within Finance.
Responsibilities for this role include overseeing and driving strategy for general accounting functions including Payroll, AP, Cost Accounting, Treasury, and General Ledger transactions as well as ensuring compliance with all regulatory agencies and engaging and overseeing the consolidated financial audit of all entities with outside audit firms.
Job Description:
Develop and oversee financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, to provide insights into the company's financial performance.
Oversee monthly and annual accounting calendar, implementing solutions where possible that streamline the accuracy and efficiency of the department.
Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and journal entries for accuracy and consistency.
Provide strategic guidance and financial expertise to support decision-making at the executive level, including investment opportunities, cost reduction initiatives, and pricing strategies.
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
Coordinate external audits and liaise with auditors to ensure timely completion and compliance with audit requirements.
Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, tax laws, and regulatory requirements, and communicate potential impacts to senior management.
Mentor and develop finance team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.
Collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as operations, sales, and human resources to drive efficiencies and achieve company goals.

Position Requirements:
Formal Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation strongly preferred.
Experience: 5 years of progressive experience in accounting roles. Demonstrated experience in financial reporting, accounting principles and internal controls. Prior experience in a managerial or supervisory capacity preferred with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
SpecializedKnowledge/Certification: In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and compliance standards (GAAP, IFRS, etc.). Proficiency in financial management software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks). Strong understanding of tax laws and regulations. Familiarity with risk management practices and internal controls.
Equipment Knowledge: PC Computers/General Office Equipment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for financial analysis and modeling. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems for financial reporting and data analysis.
