Accounting Director directs the operations and policies of an accounting function. Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental, financial, and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards. Being an Accounting Director monitors and evaluates accounting systems and processes to identify areas for improvement and optimization. Oversees overall monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. Additionally, Accounting Director develops and directs accounting professionals and supports staff through subordinate managers. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. May require Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Typically reports to a head of accounting. The Accounting Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.     The Accounting Clerk will undertake a variety of accounting responsibilities including accounts receivable, purchasing, accounts payable, filing, payroll assistance, and reconciliation. You must be detail-oriented, reliable, and hardworking with great communication skills and a positive attitude.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Provide accounting and clerical support to the accounting department.
    • Prepare and maintain accounting filing and document retention system for efficient research and compliance.
    • Verify and post detail about business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed.
    • Receive, match, batch, and code vendor invoices for accurate and timely payment.
    • Review and code credit card transactions and expense reimbursement requests. 
    • Provide assistance and support to company personnel (new vendor accounts, credit applications, customer charge accounts, etc.).
    • Maintain W9 and tax exemption documentation for vendors and customers and prepare 1099 forms annually.
    • Respond to accounting related inquiries, both internal and external, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff member.
    • Review and balance internal accounts, analyze variances, and prepare reports using financial software.
    • Research, make inquiries, and resolve accounting discrepancies with other employees, vendors, customers, lenders, etc. in a professionally helpful and assertive manner.
    • Prepare and interpret financial summaries and provide reports to managers on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
    • Participate in month-end close activities such as preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
    • Assist with payroll processing.

    Required Skills and Abilities:

    • Proven accounting experience, preferably as an Accounts Receivable or Accounts Payable clerk.
    • Familiarity with bookkeeping and basic accounting procedures.
    • Data entry and word processing skills.
    • High degree of competency with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and accounting software.
    • Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports.
    • Aptitude for learning new software and systems.
    • Proficiency with math and numbers.
    • Excellent organizational skills, accuracy, and attention to detail.
    • Ability to perform filing and record keeping tasks.
    • Excellent task prioritization and time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Demonstrated ability to act with the utmost integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

    Education and Experience:

    • Minimum three years relevant accounting experience required.
    • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.

    Compensation and Benefits:

    • Hourly rate: $17.50 to $23.00, dependent on experience
