Accounting Director directs the operations and policies of an accounting function. JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for oversight of the general ledger and accounting operations on a day-to-day basis for all segments of Hercules. Analyze financial information to determine records of assets, liabilities, P&L, tax liabilities, or other financial activities of the company.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Oversight and leadership of the general accounting function, including all aspects of financial reporting to the CFO
· Supervise accounting team at multiple locations, including training, directing work, and resolving problems
· Establish and maintain policies and systems to ensure strong financial internal controls
· Ensure Balance Sheet reconciliations are properly prepared in a timely manner, including evidence of review
· Ensure all financial transactions are properly recorded in a timely manner
· Prepare/oversee month-end, quarterly and year-end close processes for all segments
· Oversee new customer, product, vendor, and GL account set-up in ERP system
· Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements
· Manage regulatory reporting, including monthly sales and use taxes, payroll taxes, and other periodic taxes/governmental fees as needed
· Assist in the coordination of financial reviews/audits with external accountants
· Provides company leaders with insight for decision-making purposes, especially cash flow
· Assist with the budgeting and forecasting processes
· Continuously assess accounting procedures and improve as needed
· Help identify, develop, and monitor KPIs
· Conduct financial investigations as needed
· Other duties as assigned by the CFO
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required
· 5-7 years of relevant accounting supervisory/management experience required; Work experience in a warehouse, distribution or manufacturing environment preferred
· ERP software experience required; NetSuite (Oracle) experience is desirable
· Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
· Competencies utilized: active listening, critical thinking, decision making, negotiation, service orientation, problem solving, time management, attention to detail
· Approximately 10% travel required to other company locations
