About this Position: 

To support the financial management and operations of the credit union through maintenance of accounting records and reports. Responsible for analyzing and reconciling detailed general ledger accounts.  Keeps records and accounts accurate and current.  Researches and resolves discrepancies and accounting errors.  Completes related reports, summaries, and records.  Creates monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Processes accounts payables. Assists management with processing of tax information.  Performs related clerical duties.

What You'll Do:

• Reviews and assists as needed to reconcile general ledger accounts daily, weekly and at month-end. Processes monthly closing process.
• Works closely with the HR/Payroll department to review and record general ledger entries and prepares reports for payroll.
• Prepare periodic financial statements and reports.
• Approves and oversees all accounts payable transactions and corporate visa card monthly payments as processed by Accounting Assistants.
• Processes, prepares and/or submits required periodic tax documentation.
• Responsible for subsidiaries, investment record keeping, records and reports for NCUA call report.
• Resolves financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing financial information. 
• Creates a clear back up plan for staff in accounting department to ensure all necessary duties are covered in all situations.
• Provides assistance to other departments in solving issues they may have related to accounting functions. 
• Reviews processes and recommends ideas for process improvement.
• Works closely with CEO and COO on items relevant to their duties and responsibilities.
• Works closely with auditors and examiners for the periodic review and exams as needed.
• Attends and participates in meetings as required.

This position is posted with the opportunity for either an Accounting Specialist or an Accounting Director depending on the applicant's education and experience. Please note additional supervisory duties are assigned to the Accounting Director position. 

 Accounting Specialist - Grade  9 | Requirements:

• Basic understanding of accounting functions required.
• Associates degree in Accounting and/ or Finance required. Bachelor's degree preferred. 
• Good understanding of Credit Union Operations preferred.
• One to two years of previous accounting experience preferred.

Accounting Director - Grade 10 | Requirements: 

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and/ or Finance Required.
• 3-5 years of previous accounting experience Preferred.
• Supervisory experience Preferred.
