Accounting Manager manages multiple accounting functions and operations such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting. Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards. Being an Accounting Manager oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. Evaluates accounting processes and systems and implements optimizations. Additionally, Accounting Manager develops and directs accounting professionals and support staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. May require Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Accounting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Accounting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. This position will provide the candidate exposure to Prudential's annuities business and products, as well as STAT and GAAP SEC financial reporting requirements. The current EWA for this position is Hybrid and requires your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site. What you can expect: Ensure timely and accurate completion of general ledger close responsibilities, which can include review and approval of journal entries and reconciliations Prepare specific balance sheet and income statement driver analyses and reconciliations (i.e., Actuarial drivers, GAAP trending and variances, etc.) Seek out and/or identify efficiencies and improve effectiveness by instituting standard methodologies in processes Support quarterly/annual audits by Internal Audit, as well as independent external auditors Maintain internal control standards to ensure compliance with Enterprise Accounting Policies and Procedures Support special projects, initiatives and ad-hoc report and analysis requests Responsible for maintenance of standard operating procedures Champion FSS values and process design principles with staff and business partners Ability to work overtime during peak periods What you’ll need: Bachelor’s or Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance 4 - 6 years of financial reporting and analysis experience A good understanding of GAAP and/or Statutory accounting principles Ability to handle multiple responsibilities under challenging time frames Possess excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills Excellent Interpersonal, collaborative and business partnering skills Self-motivated, proactive, detail oriented while maintaining a big picture perspective Highly skilled with Microsoft Excel It’d be a plus if you have: Advanced degree or designation (MBA, CPA) or pursuit towards Insurance and/or Investment experience a plus Experience with Prudential Financial systems a plus (Oracle, Essbase Prudential embraces all applicants, even if you don't meet every requirement.
