Accounting Supervisor supervises accounting staff in daily operations of one or more accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledger maintenance, revenue, and asset accounting. Oversees calculating, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records. Being an Accounting Supervisor ensures all analysis and reporting are accurate and prepared in compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Establishes and implements productivity and quality standards. Additionally, Accounting Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Accounting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Job Summary

    As the Accounting Director, you will oversee and manage all financial and accounting operations within our organization. You will play a crucial role in shaping our financial strategy, ensuring stability, and maintaining financial affairs. Your responsibilities will include supervising the preparation of current financial reports and summaries, creating forecasts to predict future growth, and ensuring proper use of the company's financial resources.

    Objectives:

    • Improve internal controls and processes - Strengthen internal financial controls and streamline processes.
    • Improve capital management - Optimize the use of capital resources.
    • Support expansion goals - Provide financial support for company expansion initiatives.
    • Supports Sales growth - Collaborate with other departments to support sales growth efforts.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:

    • Oversees Accounting department, budget preparation, and audit functions.
    • Work with other department heads to support improvement initiatives.
    • Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, AP, AR, repairs & maintenance, cost analysis, cash flow management, and budget preparation.
    • Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.
    • Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
    • Manage cash flow and capital expenditures.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Directs the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, shareholder reports, cash flow, tax returns, and governmental agency reports.
    • Ensures compliance with accounting procedures through observation, supervision, and testing.
    • Compares sales and profit projections to actual figures and budgeted expenses to actual expenses; makes or oversees any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
    • Directs the planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
    • Works with the ownership group and other executives to coordinate planning and establish priorities for the planning process.
    • Analyzes operations to identify areas in need of improvement and supports strategic initiatives from an accounting & finance perspective.
    • Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
    • Helps bridge activities between operations and accounting & finance to support the achievement of the overall strategy.
    • Supports operations by managing vendor relationships, purchasing process, and repairs & maintenance work.
    • Institutes cost-saving measures.
    • Maintain all records for the business in an organized manner and easily accessible.
    • Maintain Control over all Insurance, Permits, and Licenses
    • Responsible for tax planning throughout the fiscal year; works with the accounting firm to timely file annual tax returns.
    • Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
    • Provides financial analysis with an emphasis on capital investments, pricing decisions, and contract negotiations.
    • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
    • Oversees capital assets projects, ensuring the organization's goals are being met.
    • Identifies opportunities for expansion into new products or market areas.
    • Oversees investment of funds and manages the procurement and use of capital required for expansion.

    Required Skills/Abilities

    • Excellent management and supervisory skills.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
    • Proficiency in database and accounting software systems.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    Education and Experience

    • Master's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance, Preferred
    • Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
    • Five to ten years of experience in financial management is required.
