Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for processing payroll for multiple companies within The Gerken Companies as well as perform various accounting duties.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Perform payroll process for two divisions of The Gerken Companies
• Review and maintain time reported in Exaktime timekeeping system
• Communicate with employees and supervisors to make necessary time and payroll corrections
• Export hours from Exaktime to Spectrum payroll system to complete processing
• Answer unemployment requests for employees during the winter layoff period
• Process employee reimbursement requests including reimbursements for boots, clothing, mileage, supplies, DOT physicals, and tires.
• Processes American Express credit card charges by verifying, coding and entering to Accounts Payable.
• Coding and keying Accounts Payable invoices for two companies
• Assist with processing and mailing aggregate invoices as needed including printing, stuffing, and mailing completed invoices and/or statements
• Assist with recording credit card payments called in by customers by phone as needed
• Assist with posting cash receipts to Accounts Receivable for multiple companies
• Other miscellaneous accounting duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office, Accounting software and databases required
• Ability to download and manipulate large amounts of data required
• High attention to detail and accuracy necessary
• Ability to analyze small details within data to identify errors and/or prove accuracy
• Ability to learn in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent sense of urgency, time management, and prioritization skills
• Ability to communicate professionally with others internally and externally

Education and Experience:

• Associates’ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
• 2-5 years construction industry accounting experience preferred

Working Environment and Physical Demands:

• Normal office environment
• Ability to sit for long periods of time
