    JOB SUMMARY

    Primarily responsible for the timely and accurate processing of university accounts payable processing and other department duties as assigned. Position requires independent judgment, the ability to effectively work through established processes with standard systems, possess strong organization skills and attention to detail, and use effective communication skills as a part of daily duties and responsibilities.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB (provide list of items which are essential to effective outcomes in this role):

    • Provide a customer-oriented service and effectively communicate with all external vendors and internal departments, through a standard and thorough approach, related to expectations pertaining to accounts payable processing cycle.
    • Organize and maintain accounts payable records, through accurate and timely processing of payments, following the standards and procedures of the University.  Assure the integrity of information and bring any potential irregularity to the attention of the Controller.
    • Process vendor invoices for payment by verifying transaction information; schedule and prepare disbursements; and obtain established payment authorizations.
    • Assist with the collecting, processing, and proper electronic filing of government forms.
    • Contact vendors to clarify any questionable invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures, contact various departments for proper information and data regarding invoice payments.
    • Responsible for weekly check run and distribution; processing of wires/ACH's and cash.
    • Provide general support and assistance to projects as needed.
    • Work with others as a member of the University Finance department to understand the integrated view of this support function and assist others as needed in times of uneven workload.
    • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality with all university information.
    • Other duties as assigned

    Qualifications


    REQUIRED EDUCATION: (education based on essential job duties and requirements consistent with business necessity):
    Associates degree in accounting/business preferred; applicable experience may substitute.

     

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE: (experience based on requirements in role and are consistent with business necessity)
    Minimum 2-5 years of experience in an office/accounting environment.
