Typically reports to a director. The Accounts Payable Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Accounts Payable Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Under the general direction of the Director of Accounts Payable, the Accounts Payable (AP) Manager is responsible for all areas relating to AP functions.  This position is responsible for daily, weekly, monthly, and annual AP tasks including supervision of AP staff; making recommendations for developing and maintaining AP principles, practices and procedures; and ensuring accurate, timely, and secure financial and operational reporting.   JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES Manage and supervise continual operation of the AP department. Manage, review and oversee staff workload. Monitor and analyze department work to maximize efficiency, use of resources, and accuracy. Develop and implement new procedures and features to enhance the workflow of the department. Perform annual staff performance reviews. Work with staff to establish annual performance goals and objectives. Recommend and facilitate appropriate training for AP staff to enhance professional development. Ensure adherence with internal controls and segregation of duties. Interact with divisional departments and all levels of personnel within the company to ensure satisfaction, compliance, and successful operational impact of AP processes and procedures across multiple platforms.  Oversee and coordinate the AP contribution to timely, successful completion of the financial reporting processes including, but not limited to:  Daily and monthly account reconciliation Year End Close Interim and Annual Audit Annual 1099 preparation and filing Participation in management team activities (i.e. training, supervisor meetings, management team meetings, budget reviews, location proforma reviews, etc.) Development, maintenance, and publication of operational AP policies and procedures governing operational AP activities and controls. Other projects and duties as needed or assigned.   QUALIFICATIONS/COMPENTENCIES Education - BA/BS in Accounting or Finance or Business Management with an emphasis in Accounting required. 7 years’ experience in accounting/financial reporting areas, inclusive of Accounts Payable responsibilities. 3 years’ supervisory/management experience with direct reports. High level experience in working with multiple software platforms and large automated accounting systems. Expert user with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to multi-task, work under pressure, meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced work environment. Strong team, organization, and cultural development skills. Ability to function effectively with, or as part of a team. Ability to mentor, coach, and train employees. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal/external business partners.  Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop changes or alternatives. Ability to effectively manage projects that may vary in nature and scope. Ability to provide subject matter expertise, counsel, and effectively influence others at various levels within the organization.   Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
