Accounts Payable Manager manages accounts payable functions to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Ensures timely payments of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintains accurate financial records and control reports. Being an Accounts Payable Manager routinely reviews applicable accounting reports to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvements or cost-savings. Reviews and evaluates the accounts payable register to ensure accuracy. Additionally, Accounts Payable Manager designs and implements standard policies and procedures to ensure accurate and compliant accounts payable records. Requires a bachelor's degree. Accounts Payable Manager will report to the Controller to support the financial management of the university through maintenance of accounting records and reports. Perform a wide variety of advanced accounting work under minimum supervision.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
40% Reconciles transaction accounts, posts to and balances general or subsidiary ledgers, processes payments, and compiles segments of monthly closings, monthly and annual reports, etc.
20% Verifies accuracy, completeness, and consistency of accounting information received. 15% Codes documents in accordance with accounts listing.
15% Records disbursements, expenses, and other payments.
5% Contacts other departments and or outside parties to resolve common problems. 5% Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience:
Two years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education:
(1) A two-year college degree or (2) Completion of a specialized course of study at a business or trade school or (3) Completion of a specialized and extensive in-house training or apprenticeship program.
Interpersonal Skills:
Work normally involves contacts with persons beyond immediate associates regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Outside contacts take the form of service to the public (visitors or vendors) requiring ordinary courtesy in providing assistance and information.
Other Skills:
Must be able to operate general office equipment including 10-key calculator and must be able to use PC spreadsheet software.
