Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst analyzes accounts payable/receivable activities to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Maintains and reconciles the accounts payable and accounts receivable ledger to validate charges and ensure timely and accurate payments and receipt of payments. Being an Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst utilizes AP/AR data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvements or cost savings. Generates reports to bring insight into collections, account ages, and other relevant metrics and relays conclusions to management. Additionally, Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst investigates and resolves discrepancies in billings and collections or payments. Analyzes customer credit history, determines credit risk, and recommends credit limits and payment terms. May recommend improvements to accounts payable/receivable processes. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. This position is responsible for clean submission of claims, operational reports, analyzing, auditing, and investigating assigned claims to ensure quality, accuracy of payment, resolution of errors, and providing strategic solutions. This position will also cross train in the cash posting area and ensure accurate posting of cash receipts. The individual will be part of an energetic department, responsible for the accounts receivable and cash collection for the organization. Individuals will assist patients and insurance carriers with bill resolution.
Education: Individual must have a High School Diploma or GED equivalent,
Associates Degree preferred but not required.
Experience:
An experienced medical biller is preferred, but we will also be happy to train. The candidate will have the ability to prioritize and complete tasks accurately at a steady pace. The candidate will identify trends, to institute continuous process improvement in the
department/organization. The candidate must possess excellent customer service, organization skills, troubleshooting abilities and problem-solving techniques.
Duties:
· Responsible for adhering to Columbia Memorial Hospital’s Patient Safety Behaviors by practicing its error prevention tools and including but not limited to all policies, procedures, and processes related to the Patient Safety Program.
· Communicates philosophy and principles of safety and ensures adherence to all Columbia Memorial Hospital safety rules and regulations.
· Participates in training and development activities in accordance with Columbia Memorial Hospital policies and practices.
· Proficient Typing/Computer skills. Knowledge of both word and excel programs.
· Knowledge of medical billing regulations, including terminology.
· Responsible for daily/weekly/monthly operational reports.
· Responsible for the submission of a clean claim to the appropriate insurance.
· Responsible for timely follow up with insurance denials, patient and/or insurance inquiries.
· Responsible for accurate posting of cash collections.
· Responsible to assist patients/insurance carriers with resolution to their questions.
· Initiate meetings with representatives from various insurance companies to review global issues.
· Initiates refunds in a timely manner.
· Responsible to secure appropriate reimbursement from insurance or patient.
· Displays good guest relations and a positive attitude toward all hospital visitors, patients and vendors, etc.
· Responsible for cross training in areas to provide coverage when necessary.
· Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
