Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst analyzes accounts payable/receivable activities to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Maintains and reconciles the accounts payable and accounts receivable ledger to validate charges and ensure timely and accurate payments and receipt of payments. Being an Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst utilizes AP/AR data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvements or cost savings. Generates reports to bring insight into collections, account ages, and other relevant metrics and relays conclusions to management. Additionally, Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst investigates and resolves discrepancies in billings and collections or payments. Analyzes customer credit history, determines credit risk, and recommends credit limits and payment terms. May recommend improvements to accounts payable/receivable processes. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Analyst occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Job Summary

    Reporting to and under the general supervision of the Accounts Payable and Travel Manager, with additional lead work direction from the Managing Director of Contracts, Procurement and Accounts Payable and the Contracts Manager, the Accounts Payable and Travel Analyst, performs varied administrative, technical and analytical duties including, but not limited to, accounts payable and travel transactions, payment requests, maintenance of supplier database, and Procard and payment reconciliation in support of the Accounts Payable Office operations. The incumbent is expected to use independent judgement to make decisions, interpret and apply department, division, campus and system-wide policies and procedures, perform research when needed, prepare and analyze budgetary and other financial reports, provide support documentation and provide general office assistance in support of the office. Assignments require handling of multiple work priorities and accountability for own work results. Contacts involve interaction with all levels inside and outside the university, and may include dealing with sensitive and confidential information.

    Key Qualifications

    This position requires a bachelor's degree and/or the equivalent training and administrative work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs. Two years of experience in invoicing, vendor management, and/or accounts payable preferred. Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel) required. Knowledge of Google Suite, Common Financial Systems, BOX and PeopleSoft preferred.

    Salary and Benefits

    Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and is anticipated to be in the range of $3,518 to $4,464 a month. This is a full time, non-exempt position, which will lead toward permanent status following the successful completion of a probationary period.

    This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year and a Personal Holiday that may be taken any time during the year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
