Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk supports the day-to-day operational activities of an organization's accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Ensures transactions are recorded promptly and accurately in accordance with internal accounting policies. Being an Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk creates and distributes invoices to customers and verifies, records, and posts payments received. Reviews purchase orders, statements, and invoices to verify amounts owed and records and processes payments for debts owed by the organization. Additionally, Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk responds to customer or vendor inquiries regarding payments or billing and researches and resolves discrepancies. Maintains and reconciles accounts payable and receivable ledger accounts. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Accounts Payable Clerk
Performs clerical duties in support of an accounting function. Typical duties include coding, posting, and paying invoices in a timely manner. Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Follow all AP internal controls
Maintain invoice files
Issue W-9s as requested and 1099s annually
Assist with year-end physical inventory count
Prepare and pay various state and federal tax payments
Work with the other departments and teammates as required
Other duties may be required for the consistent operation of the accounting department as outlined by management.
Qualifications/Skills
This is an entry level position, however familiarity with double entry-accounting and Microsoft Excel is desired. To be successful at this job, you must be task-oriented and able to follow standardized work instructions in a structured environment with lots of feedback and direction. Math competency is essential, as well as the ability to plan and organize. You must be able to handle many items simultaneously while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Work hours are normally eight (8) hours a day, however, during peak periods, extended hours may be required.
