Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk jobs in Stamford, CT
Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk supports the day-to-day operational activities of an organization's accounts receivable and accounts payable functions. Ensures transactions are recorded promptly and accurately in accordance with internal accounting policies. Being an Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk creates and distributes invoices to customers and verifies, records, and posts payments received. Reviews purchase orders, statements, and invoices to verify amounts owed and records and processes payments for debts owed by the organization. Additionally, Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk responds to customer or vendor inquiries regarding payments or billing and researches and resolves discrepancies. Maintains and reconciles accounts payable and receivable ledger accounts. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately apply cash payments to customer accounts
- Conduct collections activities, including contacting customers regarding overdue accounts
- Maintain knowledge of banking processes and procedures
- Utilize ERP systems and Excel for financial data management and analysis
- Handle customer inquiries professionally and courteously
- Assist with various financial projects and tasks as needed
- Prepare and distribute statements to customers in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
- Experience in cash application and/or collections beneficial
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (including V-lookup, Pivot Tables, Sum-if formulas)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges
