Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accounts Payable Manager to join our team. As the Accounts Payable Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the accounts payable process and ensuring accurate and timely payments to vendors and suppliers. This is a key role within our finance department, and we are looking for someone who is highly organized, has strong analytical skills, and can effectively manage a team. This is an in-office position, located in Chesapeake, VA, Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5:30PM.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Manage the accounts payable/licensing team, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Review and approve invoices for payment, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies.
• Perform general ledger reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.
• Oversee the processing of vendor payments, including check runs and electronic transfers.
• Monitor cash flow to ensure sufficient funds are available for payment obligations.
• Collaborate with other departments to resolve any invoice discrepancies or issues.
• Maintain vendor relationships, including addressing inquiries and resolving payment-related concerns.
• Develop and implement accounts payable policies and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and changes in accounting regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Oversees the Accounting & Licensing Assistant position.

Knowledge Skills & Abilities:

• Strong knowledge of accounts payable principles and practices.
• Proficiency in using accounting software.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including strong Excel skills.
• Experience with construction industry accounting is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to take a proactive approach to project management processing for multiple clients.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years accounts payable experience required.
• Proven experience as an Accounts Payable Manager or in a similar role
