Our busy Accounting Department located in Tenafly, NJ, is looking for an experienced AP/AR Clerk to join the business team. Under the guidance of the Assistant Controller, this opportunity allows you to learn more about the automobile industry and finance.

Typical Work Schedule: 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Job Summary

The Accounts Payable/Receivable Clerk works closely with the administrative team. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and possess specialized knowledge of accounts payable systems, with in-depth accounting knowledge. A successful candidate will enjoy the opportunity to make an immediate impact by performing administrative duties and being a part of an office team that is responsible for paying bills from many different vendors.

Responsibilities:

• Generate and send out invoices to customers in a timely manner.
• Process incoming payments in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Reconcile accounts receivable ledger to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Follow up on overdue accounts and communicate with customers regarding payment status.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or disputes with customers.
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and customer interactions and send month end statements.
• Receive and verify expense reports; reconciles expense and other financial reports with account balances and other office records.
• Facilitates payment of vendors, which may include verification of federal ID numbers, reviewing repair orders, purchase orders, and resolving discrepancies.
• Ensures outstanding obligations are credited upon payment, identifies discount opportunities, and issues purchase order amendments or stop-payment orders as needed.
• Records entries and verifies documentation.
• Calculates and reports invoices.
• Must be able to compose emails and correspondence interacting with vendors.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must be reliable and extremely trustworthy.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related programs.
• Must be able to learn other accounting software systems.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidential and meticulous records.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma required.
• Business or Accounting degree preferred.
• Certified Accounts Payable Professional (CAPP) certification a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
