Accounts Receivable Clerk jobs in Stamford, CT
Accounts Receivable Clerk supports the day-to-day operational activities of an accounts receivable department. Creates and distributes invoices to customers. Being an Accounts Receivable Clerk records, verifies, and posts payments received by the organization and ensures transactions are recorded in accordance with internal accounting policies. Maintains and reconciles accounts receivable ledger to ensure accurate and timely receipt of payments. Additionally, Accounts Receivable Clerk responds to customer inquiries and assists with the research of any discrepancies regarding bills. May utilize accounting software and systems to manage invoices and payments. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Accounts Receivable Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately apply cash payments to customer accounts
- Conduct collections activities, including contacting customers regarding overdue accounts
- Maintain knowledge of banking processes and procedures
- Utilize ERP systems and Excel for financial data management and analysis
- Handle customer inquiries professionally and courteously
- Assist with various financial projects and tasks as needed
- Prepare and distribute statements to customers in a timely manner
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field preferred
- Experience in cash application and/or collections beneficial
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel (including V-lookup, Pivot Tables, Sum-if formulas)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges
