We are seeking an experienced Accounts Receivable Supervisor or A/R Manager to lead the transactional accounting and high-volume billing functions for a rapidly growing chemical handling and environmental services provider located in Detroit. This role will lead a small team of A/R Specialists responsible for the day-to-day management of accounts receivable, including processing invoices, managing customer payments, tracking payments, managing collections, and resolving discrepancies.

Essential Job Functions include:

• Lead the Accounts Receivable team across multi-site operations, ensuring accuracy in high-volume invoicing and related accounting functions.
• Manage “order to cash” process and ensure staff adherence to procedures and protocols.
• Develop and mentor direct reports, providing training and support to facilitate ongoing professional growth and career advancement within the organization.
• Oversee the implementation and maintenance of internal controls to mitigate financial risks and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Collaborate closely with the Regional Vice President to safeguard the financial well-being of the business line.
• Coordinate with Sales team to ensure high quality data inputs for customer invoicing, quickly resolving issues when identified, ensuring accuracy of pricing and payment terms at all times.
• Conduct in-person travel to regional facilities, with anticipated travel one week per month.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the accounts receivable function, identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance productivity, and reduce costs.
• Generate month-end and ad hoc reporting.

Qualifications include:

• BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
• 7 years of Accounts Receivable, A/R, or Billing experience in a Manufacturing, Industrial, Transportation, or Logistics operation.
• 2 years of Supervisory or Managerial leadership experience.
• Daily presence onsite “in office”. This is NOT a remote or hybrid role.
• High level of proficiency in MS Excel and ERP/MRP systems is required; experience with MS Dynamics is a plus.
• Experience implementing or upgrading accounting systems, particularly ERP integration with new acquisitions.
• Highly organized, detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously having time-sensitive deadlines.
• Proactive, independent thinker who seeks ways to improve existing processes.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
