Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist the Director by planning and carrying out various group activity programs.
Interacts with residents in group and independent situations and engages them in sensory stimulation activities.
Motivates and encourages residents to attend provided programs.
Acquaints self with all facility’s residents. Adapts recreational programs according to resident’s diagnosis and suggests new and creative ideas from which the residents would benefit.
Observes and identifies resident reactions while they are engaged in group and independent situations and reports progress to Director of Therapeutic Recreation and documents when assigned.
Assists in transporting residents to and from programs and is actively involved in all activities unless medically unable.
Accurately completes daily attendance for one- on -one and groups assignments as well as other necessary paperwork as assigned.
Carries out resident feeding during Therapeutic Recreation programs and meal times.
Performs direct and indirect resident care activities as ordered and consistent with the facility's policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/ OR EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Must have a sincere desire to work with the aged, disabled and infirmed and will independently carry out resident programming as indicated.
Must be able to effectively communicate with older adults in a manner that conveys warmth and professionalism
