    JOB DESCRIPTION
    Qualifications: Must be eligible for certification as a therapeutic recreation specialist or as an activities professional by a recognized accrediting body; OR have 2 years of experience in a social or recreational program within the last 5 years (at least one year as a fulltime employee in a Therapeutic Activities program); OR be a qualified Occupational Therapist or Occupational Therapy Assistant; OR have completed a training course approved by the State of North Carolina.
    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day.
    • Must be able to speak English in an understandable manner.
    • Must be in good general health, demonstrate emotional stability, and be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
    • Must possess sight/hearing senses (or use prosthetics) to meet job requirements.
    • May be required to lift residents, equipment or supplies.
    Hours: Normal hours will be 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday (unless other arrangements have been approved by the Administrator). Some occasional evening and extra weekend hours may be required for special events.
    Responsibilities: Listed below is an outline of major duties and responsibilities to be performed by the Director of Activities:
    • Plan, schedule and promote a broad spectrum of activities at all facilities in Silver Bluff Village.
    • Evaluate activities on a regular basis and restructure according to residents’ needs and requests. Ensure individualized programs are provided and documented.
    • Prepare monthly calendar of events/activities and post in public places throughout all facilities.
    • Document all resident progress and participation.
    • Complete activity portion of MDS and Assessments, and participate in Care Planning.
    • Recruit and train volunteers.
    • Attend Management Team meetings.
    • Attend all Resident Council meetings.
    • Orient all new employees and conduct yearly inservices for all current employees in relation to the Silver Bluff Village Activity Program.
    • Assist in managing Activities Dept.
    • All other duties as deemed necessary by the Administrator.
