Summary
Has administrative authority and responsibility for the development and maintenance of nursing service objectives, standards of nursing practice, nursing policy and procedure, and written job descriptions for each level of nursing personnel. Coordinates nursing services, with other resident services, and for recommending the number and levels of nursing personnel to be employed and staff development. Assists in the operations and administration of the organization. Works closely with management, medical director, and legal counsel.

Directly responsible for all nursing staff of the organization assigned to them.
Responsibilities and Duties
1. Executes Resident Care Policies.
2. May carry out duties of Administrator in his/her absence.
3. Supervise the scheduling of Resident Care Conferences to initiate and maintain resident care planning and communication with all levels of nursing personnel and other professional disciplines involved in resident care.
4. Facilitate and coordinate quality resident care with other departments through routine daily and weekly communications.
5. Schedule daily rounds so that all residents are seen.
6. Oversees and is a member of QA committee and Infection Control, Pharmacy, Behavior management committees and other committees as necessary.
7. Participate in the resident admission process by making admission recommendations based on resident needs, staffing levels, staff qualifications, equipment availability, and provisions of the Resident Care Policies.
8. Supervise the level of care determinations to assure that residents are assigned the level of care according to their nursing care requirements.
9. Recommend number and levels of nursing personnel to be employed.
10. Screen, select and insure provision of orientation, of a continuing staff development and in service program for nursing personnel.
11. Supervise an organized program of employee evaluation and competency including administration of praise and/or discipline and terminate employees as necessary.
12. Schedule staff per approved staffing pattern.

14. Responsible for the control of the narcotic record.
15. Assures compliance with State and Federal Nursing Home Regulations as they apply to provision of nursing care.
16. Performs all other duties as assigned.
17. Responsible to review all resident incident and accident reports and delegate follow up.
18. Visits all shifts to evaluate nursing services.
Required training and experience include a Bachelors or Associates Degree or Diploma from a State Approved School of Nursing.
Must also possess a valid Michigan Registered Nursing License.
Must also be CPR Certified
