The primary purpose of this job is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation for a 122 Bed Skilled Nursing Facility in Iron County, Southwest of Farmington MO. The Director of Nursing will require a RN License in good standing with the State Board of Nursing and will work in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility to ensure that the highest degree of Resident care is maintained at all times. The DON will ensure that skilled and dedicated staff are available on every shift to provide care in accordance with each resident's needs. Direct and participate in the recruitment and selection including interviewing of all nursing staff. Responsible for directing appropriate and timely inservices for nursing and facility staff as it relates to nursing and resident care. Oversee on the job training and orientation programs to assure the current material and programs are provided. DON will participate in and guide the assessment and selection of residents for admission to the facility, inform appropriate facility staff of new admissions, of arrival, room assignment, and care needs. Ensure rooms are ready for new admissions and staff prepared to greet the new resident and family members and make them comfortable. Participate in and guide nursing staff during facility surveys and serve on facility committees such as Infection Control, Restorative, Policy Advisory, Pharmaceutical, Quality Assessment and Assurance, and Participate in comprehensive assessment and develop plans of care as needed for each Resident. DON must have the ability to problem solve and handle multiple tasks in a professional manner. Must be knowledgeable of current standards of nursing practice and procedures as well as laws, regulations, and guidelines that pertain to long term care.
