Responsibilities of an Activity Director:

• Develop, plan, and implement recreational programs and activities for residents based on their interests and abilities.
• Coordinate and lead group activities such as arts and crafts, music sessions, games, outings, and educational programs.
• Encourage resident participation and social interaction during activities.
• Collaborate with other staff members, including nurses and therapists, to integrate activities into the overall care plan for residents.
• Maintain activity supplies and equipment, and ensure safety protocols are followed during activities.
• Document resident participation and assess the effectiveness of programs.
• Communicate regularly with residents and families to gather feedback and suggestions for activities.

Qualifications of an Activity Director:

• Previous experience in activity planning or recreational therapy, preferably in a nursing home or senior living setting.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for developing engaging and meaningful activities for older adults.
• Understanding of the physical, cognitive, and emotional needs of elderly individuals.
