Under supervision of the center director, provides administrative, operational, programming and technical assistance; assistance with the Eating Together nutrition program; and supervision and facility management in the center director's absence.
Essential Job Duties
- Registers new senior center and fitness center/studio members, renews current members' membership forms and enters data into WellSky/MySeniorCenter computer system.
- Assists members in using MySeniorCenter (MSC) kiosks.
- Maintains key tag inventory.
- Assists in completing reports as needed and as assigned by the center director, including compiling the bi-monthly volunteer hours report (November, January, March, May, July, September) and service delivery (by the 5th of the month).
- Collects enhancement donations.
- Handles any member issues in absence of director (in conjunction with Regional Manager/Senior Center Social Worker as necessary).
- Familiar with, and enforces, the Senior Center and Community Services Division Standard Operating Procedures, the Nutrition Program Standard Operating Procedures and the Baltimore County policies and procedures.
- Maintains current Eating Together Manual and all accompanying forms.
- Explains Eating Together program policies and procedures to participants.
- Assists with the recruitment, training, reporting and retention of volunteers.
- Presents the HACCP nutrition education program quarterly.
- Maintains inventory and ordering of nutrition related supplies.
- Oversees reservation system and monitoring reservation abusers.
- Assists in coordination of special events as related to Eating Together meals.
- Oversees money handling and ensures proper deposit of donations.
- Oversees proper reporting as required by the Nutrition Office, including daily monitoring and weekly reporting.
- Reports food issues to Nutrition Office daily.
- Processes phone reservation count changes daily by 10:15 a.m.
- In the absence of, or on conjunction with, a volunteer, provides front desk coverage including answering telephone and in-person questions.
- In the absence of a council member, accepts payment for council special events, except travel payments, and places in drop box.
- Greets members and guests.
- Sells CountyRide tickets.
- Makes bank deposits for all county revenues as needed.
- Assists center director with developing recreational, educational and cultural programs and activities in senior center.
- Assists with publicizing programs and activities by making daily center announcements, preparing fliers, and assisting with community outreach (i.e., taking the monthly newsletters to businesses in the community, social media) as needed.
- Unlocks/locks the senior center and provides operational and facility oversight in the absence of the center director.

Graduation from a recognized high school or equivalency;
Plus
At least two years' experience in senior centers, adult education, adult recreation, counseling, social work, community development, or a closely related field.
Qualifying education may be substituted for the required experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge and skills using Outlook, Word and Excel.
Licenses and Certificates
Possession of a valid non-commercial class C Maryland Driver's license or an appropriate equivalent is required at the time of appointment. Maintain CPR/AED/FA Certification and Baltimore County Certified Food Service Manager license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Knowledge of the needs of older adults and the means to meet those needs.
- Knowledge of the objectives and purposes of activities, programs, and services for older adults.
- Ability to work effectively with older adults, volunteers and the community in general.
- Ability to keep charts and records of average complexity.
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

EXAMINATION PROCEDURE
Applicants will be qualified based on an evaluation of their training and experience, as stated on their application, which includes answers to the supplemental questions. Applicants must state the dates and duties of past and present experience clearly and completely for evaluation purposes.
Employees hired after July 1, 2022 are required to participate in the Baltimore County Employees’ Retirement System, with very limited exceptions.
Persons appointed to this classification must satisfactorily complete County sponsored CPR and First Aid training. These positions must maintain certification throughout employment.
Physical and Environmental Conditions
The work of this position entails frequent walking, standing, and other limited physical activity.
