Director of Recreation and Facilities
As the Director of Recreation and Facilities at our community recreation facility, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for residents by developing, implementing, and overseeing a diverse range of recreational programs and activities. You will be responsible for fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes physical, social, and emotional well-being for individuals of all ages and abilities.
**Responsibilities:**
1. Strategic Planning- Develop long-term strategies and goals for the activity center in alignment with the community's mission and values.
2. Program Development- Design and implement a comprehensive range of recreation and fitness programs and activities catering to the needs and interests of community members.
3. Staff Supervision- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise a team of qualified staff, providing guidance and support to ensure excellence in program delivery.
4. Community Engagement- Build strong relationships with community stakeholders, including residents, local organizations, and government agencies, to promote participation in recreational programs and advocate for resources and support.
5. Facility Management- Oversee the maintenance and utilization of recreational facilities, ensuring they are safe, clean, and properly equipped to meet the needs of program participants.
6. Fiscal Oversite- Manage day-to-day finances, create monthly financial reports to stakeholders, strive to meet budget, and search for grant and funding opportunities.
7. Compliance- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and policies governing recreational programs, facilities, and services.
8. Innovation- Stay informed about current trends and best practices in the fields of recreation and fitness, and incorporate innovative ideas and approaches to continuously improve program quality and relevance.
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate staff, volunteers, and program participants.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities, with a proactive and collaborative approach to decision-making.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards governing recreational facilities and programs.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Preferred Qualifications
-College degree in sports management, community recreation, exercise science, or related field.
-Experience in management of a recreational facility or experience as a staff member with significant responsibility.
