Actuarial Services Director directs the activities of an organization's actuarial function. Oversees the analysis and evaluation of potential risks to determine the financial impacts of new or existing insurance plans. Being an Actuarial Services Director develops policies, procedures, and formulas to guide statistical analysis and actuarial research and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Designs processes and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance of products and financial operations. Additionally, Actuarial Services Director leads the design and development of insurance products by evaluating and approving insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Oversees the preparation of actuarial reports, financial statements, and regulatory filings and develops financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Researches and selects major rating assumptions to support accurate statistical analysis and evaluates the effectiveness of existing formulas. Evaluates product performance against established profitability targets and recommends modifications. Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA). May require Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to senior management. The Actuarial Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Actuarial Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     A Director of Social Services I directs, plans, organizes, and develops the operation of the Social Services Department. Participates in the implementation of social care plans and resident assessments in accordance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations. Ensures that the medically related emotional and social needs of the resident are met/maintained on an individual basis. Other key responsibilities will include:

    • Plans, develops and organizes the social service programs of the Health Campus.
    • Participates in discharge planning, development and implementation of social care plans and resident assessments.
    • Develops a written plan of care (preliminary and comprehensive) for each resident
    • Reviews and revises care plans and assessments as necessary, but mainly quarterly
    • Provides information to resident/families on Medicare/Medicaid and other financial assistance programs
    • Reviews and develops a plan of correction for social service deficiencies noted during survey inspections
    • Interviews resident or family members, as necessary, to obtain social history.
    • Attends and participates in annual company required in-service training programs.
    • Follows all safety regulations, programs, policies, and procedures.
    • Follows resident's rights and responsibilities, including the right of refusal.
    • Follows the company's policies and procedures regarding resident complaints and/or grievances
    • Assists in recruiting, screening, selecting, hiring, training coaching, counseling, and developing a team of qualified and highly motivated individuals.
    • Minimal travel including overnight stay as necessary.

    Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's in Psychology; or Licensed practical nurse in Kentucky, Michigan, or Ohio.
    • Must meet State requirements and regulatory code(s) for licensure or certification.
    • Three (3) to five (5) years' experience working in the field of social services in a senior residential care, healthcare, senior living industry or long-term care environment.
    • Exemplary computer skills that include knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite of products.

    Physical Requirements

    Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside of the health campus.
