Actuarial Services Director directs the activities of an organization's actuarial function. Oversees the analysis and evaluation of potential risks to determine the financial impacts of new or existing insurance plans. Being an Actuarial Services Director develops policies, procedures, and formulas to guide statistical analysis and actuarial research and evaluate the likelihood and financial impact of various risks. Designs processes and guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance of products and financial operations. Additionally, Actuarial Services Director leads the design and development of insurance products by evaluating and approving insurance rates, premium levels, and rating systems and structures. Oversees the preparation of actuarial reports, financial statements, and regulatory filings and develops financial budgets, forecasts, and other financial projections. Researches and selects major rating assumptions to support accurate statistical analysis and evaluates the effectiveness of existing formulas. Evaluates product performance against established profitability targets and recommends modifications. Applies knowledge of mathematics, probability, statistics, principles of finance and business to calculations in life, health, social, and casualty insurance, annuities, and pensions. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require Associate of Society of Actuaries (ASA). May require Fellow of Society of Actuaries (FSA). Typically reports to senior management. The Actuarial Services Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be an Actuarial Services Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.   • RESPONSIBILITIES:         
    • Develops policies and procedures and makes recommendations for operation of the project to the Superintendent.
    • In accordance with the budget and state law and appropriate educational goals and objectives, coordinates and monitors all activities to insure the attainment of the services to Nonpublic Schools Division’s goals and objectives.
    • Establishes appropriate information management systems (internal and external).
    • Ensures appropriate administration/ supervision of the services to Public/Nonpublic School Division, utilizing personal appraisal and appropriate reporting systems.
    • Directs contracting with local boards of education for the provision of educational services and related expansion opportunities.
    • Confirms and approves requisition and vendor invoices for all expenditures.
    • Confirms and approves district’s invoices.
    • Ensures the necessary dates for revenues from state department of education and other agencies.
    • Provides professional development plan for all staff, agencies, parents and community groups, advisory, councils, principals and superintendent.
    • Demonstrates leadership in budget development, fiscal responsibility, data analysis and coordination of assessment programs.
    • Coordinates grant processes (evaluations, budgets, reports, applications) for the purpose ensuring compliance with all grant requirements.
    • Supervises staffing needs, including recruitment, hiring, retention and scheduling of personnel.
    • Provides opportunities for effective staff development that address the needs of staff, including workshops, conferences, visitations, demonstration of lessons and sessions in which staff share successful practices and strategies.
    • Participates in evaluating designated programs as an ongoing responsibility and recommends changes and additions as needed.
    • Coordinates the provision of related services (speech, occupational therapy, physical therapy) to all districts that support students with disabilities per their IEP.
    • Assumes responsibility for complying, maintaining and filing all reports, records and other documents legally required or administratively useful in all schools and programs.
    • Maintains confidentiality at all times.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or his/her designee.
    QUALIFICATIONS:      
    • Master’s Degree in Education.
    • NJ Standard School Administrator Certificate or NJ Standard Principal Certificate; Certificate of Eligibility considered for exceptional candidate.
    • Have at least 5 years of successful teaching/administrative experience and 2 years of administrative experience as a supervisor, vice principal or director.
    • Required criminal history background check & Tuberculosis screening.
