Job description
Hubbard United Methodist Church (HUMC) is seeking a part-time (20-24 hours/week) Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and organizational support to the Hubbard United Methodist Church staff, its various committees, and worshipers both in-person and online.
This candidate will:
• Be a person of genuine Christian character who understands the role as a ministry in line with the mission and vision of HUMC.
• Present a positive "first face" of the church consistent with the love of Christ.
• Have the ability to interact with parishioners, guests, committees, and staff in an enthusiastic manner that is helpful, courteous, pleasant, and professional.
• Ensure the office runs smoothly; develop and recommend improved office procedures and systems.
• Be able to independently and proactively complete tasks and communicate to others.
• Understand confidentiality and use discretion in discussions of sensitive matters.
Duties to include (but not exclusive)
Answering phones, handling email, mail, managing website and social media pages, creating and printing bulletins, newsletters, various mailings, creating worship slides, scheduling meetings, greeting guests, maintaining records, creating copies, as well as various other office duties. This person would work with and report directly to the Pastor, as well as various groups within the church.
Preferred Skill Set/Education
• Associate degree in Administrative field or equivalent experience
• 1-2 years administrative experience
• Must be able to work independently in an office environment
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
• Attention to detail, organization, and priority management
• Good written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact with all levels of staff, committees, and membership.
• Ability to operate all office equipment independently, including, but not limited to, telephone, computer, copier equipment, and publishing equipment.
• Proficient in MS Office Suite, Ability or Willingness to learn Canva, software packages such as Church Windows, QuickBooks, and others.
