Description
PRN position - responsible for the supervision of nursing departments and patient care; indirect responsibility for ancillary support departments within an assigned shift. Coordinates and maintains the level of quality of patient care expected by Spanish Peaks Regional Health Center (SPRHC). Assumes leadership in the absence of the Chief Nursing Officer and serves as one in authority and responsibility during assigned shifts assuring staffing schedules are appropriate for patient care, direct patient care is appropriate and related decisions in the completion of assigned tasks.
Salary Range: $48.26 per hour (based on qualifications/experience)
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is required. Five years of previous healthcare experience. One year of long-term care work experience is preferred. Previous work experience in a supervisory role is preferred.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Oversees clinical care and nursing activities on assigned shifts.
• Assess the acuity of care and need of increase or decrease staffing levels based on census.
• Promotes a safe environment for staff members, families, visitors and patients.
• Completes rounds on patients and staff members.
• Serves as a resource to staff members for solving clinical problems.
• Provides for immediate follow-up, documentation and communication of incidents to appropriate manager and/or director (i.e. staffing issues that cannot be resolved, unusual patient concerns, physician concerns, utility, Internet or other critical need outages, security issues, building crisis).
• Provides supportive activities to floor staff members by providing direct patient care to include, but not limited to, administering medications, checking medication dosages and patient medical histories for possible interactions, completion of patient assessments, ability to start, maintain and discontinue IV lines for administration of fluids, blood or blood products and/or medications, ability to read and interpret electrocardiogram (EKG)/rhythm strips.
• Provide emotional support to patients/families and educate patients on various medical conditions.
• Provide direction and education for licensed and unlicensed staff members assigned throughout the facility.
• Complete end-of-shift and hand-off reports with oncoming staff members.
