    Admitting Registrar

    This position is part time working in the hospital check-in and scheduling area.

    Weekly expected schedule Tuesday & Wednesday 10:45 am-6:15 pm (occasional Monday shifts 10:45 am-6:15 pm) Guaranteed 14 hours weekly with opportunities to pick up additional hours.

    Accountabilities/Duties:
    Provide exceptional customer service as the first point of contact for customers, visitors and staff.
    Verify patient demographic information and insurance coverage.
    Check in patients using computer based system and verify patient information within Electronic Medical Record.
    Communicate benefit changes to members, communicate wait times, direct patients to appropriate care area, obtain patient signatures on appropriate forms
    Review and accurately update all patient registration information, demographics, insurances, scanning ID and insurance cards at bedside registration
    Pre-register outpatient services and initiate pre-certification for all inpatient services.
    Maintain accurate hospital census logs
    Verify patient status of admission, transfer and discharge in the EPIC system
    Serve as main point of contact for all hospital staff EPIC needs during shift
    Facilitate timely and accurate flow of communication including responding appropriately to phone calls, taking and relaying messages, etc.
    Assists with other clerical duties to support the department such as faxing information, making copies, scanning, requesting supplies, etc.
    This position may request a minimum 2 hour additional commitment into the next shift in the event of an unforeseen staffing emergency
    Additional duties as assigned

    Required Qualifications:
    High school diploma or equivalent
    Excellent customer service and communication skills
    Works well under pressure, organized and detail oriented
    Ability to work independently
    Team player and works well with hospital clinical staff in all departments
    Computer experience; competent with Microsoft Office software

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Experience working in patient registration, scheduling or admitting
    Knowledge of medical terminology
    Electronic medical record experience such as Epic.
    Knowledge of health insurance plans, benefits, co-payments and record needs
