Position Summary: Incumbent performs all tasks necessary to register patients, obtain necessary authorizations, verify the patient has a source of funding to cover services, and schedule patients for surgery. Responds to patient inquiries and resolves any identified issues.

Required Qualifications:Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health SystemDemonstrated experience using MS OfficeAbility to interpret and understand various medical insurance plans and make accurate determinations regarding coverageGeneral knowledge of ICD9 and CPT codesAbility to work weekends, holidays, and eveningsPrevious experience with computer registration and registration scheduling systemMust be able to travel to off site physician practicesAbility to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workloadMust demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the jobExcellent written and verbal communication skills in EnglishMust demonstrate general understanding of medical terminologyMinimum one (1) year recent experience (within past two (2) years) registering patients in a hospital or clinic, working as a Medical Assistant, or working in medical billingMust possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience with authorization process and surgical schedulingBilingual in English and SpanishFamiliarity of Joint Commission standardsExperience with EpicKnowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
