Admitting Supervisor supervises the day-to-day patient admissions and access operations and staff responsible for required registration, and patient intake processes. Follows standardized processes for admission procedures to ensure accurate data collection, a positive patient experience, and effective coordination between clinical and administrative teams. Being an Admitting Supervisor monitors operational metrics to improve processes, increase efficiency, or correct problems. Prepares staff work schedules to ensure coverage and coordinate training and staff resources. Additionally, Admitting Supervisor follows all established policies and standards to preserve patient confidentiality, ensure data security and comply with all applicable regulations. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Admitting Supervisor supervises a small group of para-professional staff in an organization characterized by highly transactional or repetitive processes. Contributes to the development of processes and procedures. To be an Admitting Supervisor typically requires 3 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Accountable for interviewing the incoming patient or patient representative, recording the information required for admission, and assigning the patient to an available room.
Responsibilities
• Differentiate between patients in need of immediate medical attention and those with minor injuries/illness. • Interview patients to secure and verify all pertinent admitting data. • Enter patient data into CAMC's Central Computer System. • Prepare the necessary forms in order for patients to receive diagnostic and/or therapeutic treatment. • Assign beds based on the nature of the illness or the type of accommodation available. • Sort, file, and distribute patient records. Prepare and disburse admitting forms and related materials. • Perform clerical and receptionist duties as necessary. Escort patients and push wheelchairs. Maintain a patient census log and prepare a statistical report monthly. • Maintain equipment, lift boxes of supplies-printer paper. • Notify the Police or Health Department for the patient as appropriate.
